AI Toolbar

When you select a range of cells in the Excel viewer, a floating AI toolbar appears. It gives you four powerful tools.

How to access it

  1. Select a range of cells by clicking and dragging
  2. The AI toolbar appears near your selection
  3. Choose a tool

Chart

Generate a visualization from your selected data.

Available chart types:

  • Bar — compare values across categories
  • Line — show trends over time
  • Pie — show proportions of a whole
  • Area — like line charts with filled regions

After generating:

  • Charts appear in the Chart Panel
  • Hover over data points to see tooltips
  • Click data points to highlight corresponding rows in the spreadsheet

Formula

Insert a spreadsheet formula on the selected cells.

Available formulas:

  • SUM — add all values in the range
  • AVERAGE — calculate the mean
  • COUNT — count non-empty cells
  • MIN — find the smallest value
  • MAX — find the largest value

The formula is computed and the result is placed in the appropriate cell.

Transform

Apply a free-text transformation to the selected range. Type a natural language instruction and the AI transforms the data.

Example prompts:

  • "Convert to uppercase"
  • "Format as currency with 2 decimal places"
  • "Extract just the year from these dates"
  • "Remove leading zeros"
  • "Translate to Spanish"

Custom prompt

Send any natural language instruction to the AI about the selected data.

Example prompts:

  • "Categorize these expenses into groups"
  • "Flag any values that seem incorrect"
  • "Calculate year-over-year growth percentages"
  • "Summarize the trends in this data"

This is the most flexible tool — you can ask the AI to do anything with the selected cells.
